Lonely Doom 05:39
Astray, Weary Wanderin through the old town Tried to collect your thoughts with a jar It seems your world has judged you down Where are you goin? Have you gone too far? I'm still alone close to the end Soon to reach heaven or hell And could I trust a friend? Stories I can no longer tell Well maybe it's only lonely doom Maybe it's only lonely doom The reality we knew has faded into the dark and the cold Our perception is jaded We grow into the unknown Am I enlightened or lost? Blind despair or my gloom? Is this what is the blessed cost? Must I meet this doom? Becoming the night time shadows or the wind in the trees Embracing or living with with fear Ill spirit go where you please Maybe it's only lonely doom Maybe it's only lonely DOOM

I drift aghast a mystic cast into the past This sedated future holds me back but it won't last Theres an ancient wound inside that remains to remind And summons power that will unwind the greater kind Bitter elite callin' me A hollow rhymin' verse Seems I'm asleep and lucky to be breathing Breathing in all the worlds Float in peace and slowly sift through the void Sweet imagination breeze create as you destroy Smilin' reflecting your tears and cries They're burning clean across multi coloured eyed skies Bitter elite callin' me A hollow rhyme and verse Seems I'm free and lucky to be breathing Breathing in other worlds You'll only lose your minds so far God knows what we will find Maybe we'll leave this cruel world behind The fuel is in our mind Let's see if your heart is blind No one scene you pass by the point of no return

Obscene over the pit the mountain of grief It's there where we'll sit with little or no belief Like you're led there to learn like they care All through the scales we make well you can see where we fail See the sinners in their towers saints in their jails Like you're led there to learn like they fucking care Open eyed I see the peak speak Open wide you think that I'll suffer you Like you're led there to learn like they care Open eyed I see the peak speak Open wide you think that I'll suffer Sometimes I crawl a toll to find my strength But understand I'll overcome this uphill struggle

Ave Noctum:

Bad Boat have shaken off their premature death and are once more active. Thank fuck, if this is anything to go by. This is just one huge showcase for the band. Emotionally expressive and varied vocals that culminate in a howl so tuneful it makes your heart cry with it. It has a steel hard pounding bass and drum engine that kicks the rhythm around like a trick footballer and guitars that riff around this with real gut wrenching touch. It’s stoner with the shit kicked out of it so hard it leaks sludge and its deep heavy blues bones glisten wetly beneath. Utterly fantastic.

The Sleeping Shaman:

“Lonely Doom” lurches between mighty crushing riffs to a full on Sabbath styled rock out meltdown all topped off with Clarke’s manic yet melodic vocal stylings. Bad Boat are no mere doom copyists and willing to stretch out and try something left of centre. [Luck to be Breathing] … shows that Bad boat aren’t content to wallow in doom clichés and look to expand the envelope. As the track builds in intensity and heaviness it has a whiff of early Cult about it, albeit raised on Mogadon and Sabbath…. If you like your doom with a few shots of extra flavouring this may well be the kind of thing you’ve been looking for though be warned, like so many of the best albums it is a record that only really seems to make full sense a few spins in.

Hellride Music:

“Each riff is draped in a layer of sandpaper and wood chippings that induces an instantaneous high when taken directly via the eardrums as prescribed. Fuckin’ apocalyptic shit from the first note to the last, but with the proper finesse on hand to see the band make the right moves with every riff. Lonely Doom is essential sickness for the dedicated, always ill doom purist.”

Temple of Perdition:

[On “Lucky to be Breathing”]… “the arrangements ebb away rather slowly, giving you time to breathe after this lengthy but convincing display of emotion. It's impressing how the group unifies a tight performance with feeling as well as attitude in a way that sounds totally natural.”

Belfast Metalheads:

This is not happy, clappy doom like some of the lesser spotted English proponents push out on sample CDs on the front of magazines. This is doom and sludge like Cathedral missed a down-tuning trick, as if Iommi's moustache grabbed the Gibson SG and dragged a minor chord from Satan's arse. Lonely Doom is for those nights when you're sitting looking up at the stars wondering when this misery will shift. It's cathartic, and its feckin' heavy. Buy one now, or regret it forever.

Broken Beard:

Bad Boat played a grand style of doom, the kind of rolling black conjuration more in line with Trouble, Candlemass, and Cathedral than Black Sabbath or Pentagram, and thus Lonely Doom contains all the full moon pomp of a motorcycle séance in a church cemetery; the title track bids, their cover of Spirit’s “Mechanical World” summons, “Lucky to Be Breathing” beckons, and “Uphill Struggle” convokes. Thanks to this release it’s not too late to hearken its wicked call.
